Himantariidae [Himantariella scutellaris] (Col·lecció)
Male found
under a dead olive tree stump, 22.iii.2019. Length: 10.2 cm (measured after
being in alcohol 70º for months, it could be 10.5 cm if softened). Maximum
width: 3.17 mm. 117 pairs of legs. HEAD: distinctly wider than long (=
0,69). ANTENNA: tapering (maximum width of articles in distal third of antenna
/ width of articles in intermediate third of antenna=0.76). FORCIPULAR
TERGITE (METATERGITE) 3.4 times as wide as long, with arched lateral edges,
and extending beyond the posterior angles of the cephalic shield; lateral
margins not distinctly converging from posterior to anterior for most of their
length; forcIpular tergite as wide as the following tergite, at least behind,
and partially covering the forcipular pleurae. FORCIPULAR COXOSTERNITE
relative breadth (maximum width/exposed length): 1.56 (moderately wider than
long); anterior margin (depth of medial embayment with respect to the most
projecting part of anterior margin of coxosternite / basal distance between
forcipular trochanteroprefemur): only slightly concave (<0 .3="" a="" absent="" bulge.="" by="" denticle="" distal="" forcipular="" only="" or="" represented="" shallow="" span="" tarsungulum:="" trochanteroprefemur:="">forcipular claw polygonal
in section; forcipular claw without preapical spines. Basal denticle small (denticle length from
basal articulation of tarsungulum / tarsungulum length <1 u="">TRUNK:1>0> main pore-field circular (or a transverse ellipse only slightly wider than long)
present in all segments except forcipular segment, located on intermediate third
or posterior half of metasternite (in both anterior and posterior half of trunk).
Virguliform fossae absent on metasternite. Separate main paratergite and stigmatifere
paratergite present. LAST LEG BEARING SEGMENT: PRETERGITE AND METATERGITE of the last leg-bearing segment not furrowed, not
rough, not porous except sometimes in the reflected lateral edges of the
tergite. METASTERNITE:
approximately trapezoid with lateral margins converging posteriorly for most of
their length; distinctly wider than long (1.6!); with mid-longitudinal groove
present; COXOPLEURON: ventral side: coxal pores opening on the surface
separately, not inside pits, scattered; dorsal side: with scattered coxal pores.
TELOPODITE (ultimate leg-bearing segment): 6 articles (or 7 including coxae): pretarsus
without spines (at most a minute spine). No apical claw on the last article of
the terminal legs. SEXUAL APPENDAGES (fig. 9): Gonads on either side of
2nd genital sternite. EXPLANATION OF THE FIGURES: Fig. 1: first
segments, dorsal; fig. 2: first segments, ventral; fig. 3: forcipular coxosternite
and claws; fig. 4: from T7 to T16 dorsal (T9 has a reddish spot next to it);
fig. 5: T7 to T14 dorsolateral (T9 has a reddish spot near coxa); fig. 7: last
segments, dorsal; fig. 8.: last segments, ventral; fig. 9: sexual appendages. REMARKS:
Attempt of determination following Brölemann 1930 and Chilokey (https://www.biologia.unipd.it/chilokey/index.php)
but when “metasternite shape wider than long” is marked it sets out Himantariella.
Determination by David Cabanillas (as cf. Himantariella scutellaris) (https://www.facebook.com/groups/544886552548277/permalink/802626683440928/).
